ABOUT THE GIG

Arjun Vagale

Arjun Vagale is one of India's most coveted DJs, part of an exclusive new breed of cutting edge producers who are making a massive globe impact. As one of the country's leading electronic music exports, he plays incessantly back home and tours regularly in Europe, the USA and Asia. A man with a true passion for the underground, a sound he relentlessly plays, produces and promotes, it’s no surprise that Arjun has received numerous awards for his DJing and production skills, and currently reigns at the top of the DJ Mag India poll. Known for his "intense, driven and atmospheric" techno sound, Arjun has played alongside such heavyweights as Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Adam Bayer, Josh Wink, Apparat, Sasha, Fat Boy Slim, and Nic Fanciulli, while his erstwhile live act, Jalebee Cartel, shared headlining spots with The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy and Modeselektor. Arjun's knowledge and use of technology in the booth is second to none, as he innovatively wields drum machines and samplers to create a raw, electrifying and radically twisted set.... SHOW MORE

Taking a calculated risk a few years ago to move away from his major main stage career, Arjun followed his love for the counterculture by traveling into darker, more experimental musical terrain. Always inspired by the sounds coming out of Berlin, he started basing his summer tours out of the techno Mecca, and the intensity of his productions reflected this evolution. The game changer came in 2010 with the release of "Kill the String" on ALiVE recordings, which propelled his solo production career. Releases on Fergie's Excentric Muzik followed, as did strong support from Dubfire, Carl Cox, Karotte and Kaserdisco.

His immense collaboration "She Said" on KD Music stayed hot on Beatport and vinyl charts for over two months. Richie Hawtin gave it multiple plays around the globe, while Carl Cox licensed it for his 2012 "Space Ibiza" CD. Soon after, Arjun's EPs on Cologne's Trapez Ltd, including the gigantic Ibiza hit "Terrakoz", were acclaimed by DJs and clubbers alike with remix requests for Danny Tenaglia, Victor Calderone, Wally Lopez and John Digweed's Bedrock. The versatility of his sound ensured that each of his 2013 releases stayed on the charts, while "Kempai" was licenced to Digweed's "Live in Argentina" compilation. Now signed to SCI+TEC, Tronic, Octopus Recording, Suara, Herzblut, and Material Series, Arjun's dynamic productions are played by Cox, Hawtin, Dubfire, Adam Bayer, Christian Smith, Stacey Pullen and Paco Osuna, all the way from Enter and DC 10 in Ibiza to Berghain in Berlin.

In his spare time, Arjun runs a truly global record label, MakTub Music, where he indulges in his other passion: discovering and promoting fresh talent. Over the last 3 years, the imprint has become home to an impressive roster of artists. He also runs India’s premier electronic music school, The ILM Academy, and is co-owner of UnMute Agency, which manages the finest underground talent in India. Over the last 16 years, Arjun Vagale has come to the forefront for the quality and depth of his productions and DJ sets, while always staying true to his roots. Whether packing in the dance floor or producing yet another monster tune, Arjun's total dedication to house and techno is apparent in everything he does.

Anil Chawla

"One to watch, a masterful producer buoying large upon the horizon of worldwide electronica... reminds us of an early Rampling/Wink lovechild - big things set to come!"
Global Underground

"Anil Chawla is one of the finest residents in the land"
Nic Fanciulli

"Definitely a name to keep an eye on in the future. A top guy and a hot producer"
Mark Knight

An artist laden with a rich and diverse history, who famously held down a 5 year residency at one of London's most notorious clubs, Turnmills. Anil had the both envious and unenvious task of warming up for electronic music royalty as diverse as The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Francois K, Josh Wink, Green Velvet, Simian Mobile Disco, Mylo, Hot Chip, MSTRKRFT, and Cassius.

His career has taken him around the world on numerous tours to Argentina, Peru and Guatemala (on his headline tour of South America), to Cocoon in Frankfurt, Australia, Dubai, Miami, Egypt, Amsterdam, Ukraine and across the UK. That's not to mention his other appearances at Pete Tong's Wonderland and Cafe Mambo in Ibiza, and in countries including Mexico, Russia, USA, Spain, India, Lithuania, Philippines, Georgia, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Italy and the Channel Islands.

No stranger to radio, guest mixes followed on BBC Radio 1, Carl Cox's Global and John Digweed's Transitions shows, as well as a resident spot on Ministry of Sound Radio. His DJ profile has been constantly growing year on year, as well as his ever increasing status as a producer, with releases on leading labels like Saved, KD Music, Bitten, Tronic, Alleanza, GU, and Great Stuff. That alongside countless awards/reviews from DJMag, iDJ, Mixmag and Beatport.

More recent times have seen Anil gather strong props from the techno fraternity, with Richie Hawtin playing a vast majority of his releases, and quite memorably he played 4 of Anil's tracks during one set at his Enter night in Ibiza last year. More support has been coming from Marco Carola, Loco Dice and Carl Cox, as well as numerous airings from Hawtin during his recent 'CNTRL: Beyond EDM' tour across the US, which has put Anil firmly on the techno map.

Whilst currently based in India, Anil continues touring across the globe - with everything from deep grooves to freaky acid house and techno still all part of his repertoire. His productions continue to gain support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Pete Tong, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela and Nic Fanciulli. Fresh off the back of his critically acclaimed debut compilation release with Sony Music India (alongside a 14 date tour at the end of 2013) it will ensure that his name carries on being on the house and techno music cognoscenti’s lips into the decade.

VIPUL

A genre defining, crossbred sound that draws heavily from progressive and deep house, Vipul's music is as deceptive as his name. Just when you think you have him down pat, he can switch gears and dish out truly fresh techno as easily as he can work a funky beat that draws audiences to the dance floor.

Without hiding behind a nomenclature or using a pseudonym, Vipul is known for his honest and clean approach to music production. Equally devoted to DJ'ing as well a very funky, tech-house sound that also draws on jackin' and hypnotic elements.

By 2009, his prowess behind the deck quickly earned Vipul a coveted residency at one of the major clubs in Delhi where he was able to experiment with the entire range of house music. It was also during this time that he met, befriended and went on to collaborate with Hamza, the founder of India's premier house music label Wind Horse Records. His work there proved to be a great stepping stone and based on his growing reputation.

Building solid ground as a DJ, Vipul also started getting noticed for his production efforts. In India, "Persian Love" became quite popular and proved to be his trump card, while internationally, Vipul's rising profile helped him release on various acclaimed global labels including Subtract Music, Perspectives Digital, Avangardia, Sick Watona, Whose Haus, 925 Digital, Lowbit, Endemic as producing, Vipul started his career in 2008 and won the Sunburn Anthem remix contest early on. Heavily influenced by DJs and artists such as Sasha, John Digweed, Josh Wink, Robert Babicz, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Kevin Yost; Vipul's sets are open to many different styles and genres. Constantly evolving as an artist, he has found himself working mostly in Digital, Budenzauber, City Life, Virtual Love, 3AM Recordings, Freizeitglauben Berlin and more. With his releases finding support from Nick Warren, Dousk, Ricky Ryan, Kosmas Epsilon, Andree Eskay, Djuma Soundsystem, Darin Epsilon, Ross Couch, Jamie Stevens, Silicone Soul, Matan Caspi, Kasey Taylor, Matt Darey, Francesco Pico and Lemon8, Vipul also started innovating and was remixed by prolific artists such as Robert Babicz and Dousk. Good music always finds its way to the top, which is why Vipul also got opportunities to play supporting sets for Secret Cinema, Richie Hawtin, Nick Warren, Mark Knight, Sander Kleinenberg, Jim Rivers, Matador, Tim Davison, Inland Knights , Ad Brown, Dr.Kucho, Alex Niggemann, Rainer Weichhold, Ricky Ryan, Darin Epsilon, Arjun Vagale, Midival Punditz and more.

Post his successful project with renowned Argentinian Ricky Ryan, these days Vipul is concentrating on earning his chops as a producer, so it won't be long before he becomes a force to reckon with in the techno music scene. Keep your ears peeled!
